On the occasion of Hindu Heritage Day 2023 (Boston)
Organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA) and cooperating organizations

What:  Story Telling contest via video in English less than 5 minutes long

Who: For Youth from the six New England states up to age of 18 (as on 5/1/2023)

When: Register for the CONTEST via the REGISTRATION button at https://boston.vhp-america.org/hhd23/storytelling before April 30, 2023. The video entries are due by 11:59 PM of May 1, 2023.  

How:  Create a video (5 minutes or less) with your iPhone/iPad/Android or other device telling a story or  a concept from Hindu Heritage and/or how it inspired you.  Then submit it via WhatsApp to the phone numbers in the registration form. You can dress-up, use a simple wall, family altar, or any other background of your choice. The topics can range from stories (Nachiketa, Dhruv) and parables, inspirational sayings (World One Family/Truth Alone Triumphs), biographical incidents (Dnaneshwar, Guru Nanak) or practices (e.g. yoga, hygiene).  You will find lots of ideas to guide you on the above webpage. ALWAYS make sure you can be heard. You can pick ANY other topics related to Hindu Heritage.

NEW FOR 2023: We have added advanced topics for teen-agers that will encourage them to do additional research and explain what they learned. Look under the title LIVING DHARMA at https://boston.vhp-america.org/hhd23/storytelling near the bottom.
SPECIAL NOTE: Parents are reminded to make it a fun activity instead of insisting on perfection.  Imperfect entries by Children are most welcome.

Judging & Prizes: Judging will be in separate groups according to age by a panel of judges. Comprehension of the subject by the presenter would be a plus.  Make sure the voice is clear and audible. The participant must appear in the video, background narration alone will not be accepted. There will be lots of prizes ranging from $25 to $150 depending on number of entries. Winners and prizes will be first announced at Hindu Heritage Day at Marlborough Middle School, Marlborough, MA on Saturday, May 20, 2023 between 3 and 8 PM, however, participants are not required to be there and can get their prizes later.
